When did you have your C-section?
Was it planned or unexpected?
What was your recovery like?
Very good. Was up and walking the first day.
What surprised you about your C-section recovery?
The only thing that made me a little nervous were the clots of blood that would come out when urinating weeks after the surgery. Totally normal, but worried me at the time.
What types of pain relief/control did you use?
Ibuprofen & ice
What types of comfort measures were helpful to you?
Getting a “binder” that first day in the hospital is crucial. If they don’t give you one, ask for one. It helped so much with pain and keeping everything “together”. I continued to wear it for weeks after getting home.
How did you feel emotionally about your C-section in the early postpartum weeks?
Fine. Was very happy with how everything went.
When you think about your C-section today, how do you feel about it?
I sometimes wish I would’ve tried a natural birth, but with twins I just wanted them out and felt that was the safest option for all of us at the time.
What advice would you give other people who’ve recently had a C-section?
Take it easy. Don’t over do it. You’ve just been through major surgery and rest and recuperation is soo important.
